As one of the most popular games of 2025, Hollow Knight: Silksong has no shortage of fans willing to invest time in making mods for the Metroidvania sequel.
Whether you’re looking to spice up your adventures in Pharloom with gameplay tweaks or have simply found yourself wishing for some quality of life improvements, modders already have you covered.
While it’s still early days, hobbyists have been hard at work conjuring up some excellent mods covering all aspects of Team Cherry’s super-challenging indie title. Below, you’ll find a breakdown of the best Silksong mods we recommend downloading, especially if you, like many others, have struggled with the game’s steep difficulty curve.
Best mods in Silksong
No Double Damage
Unlike the original Hollow Knight, which had but a handful of enemies and bosses in the late game that could whack you for double damage, Silksong throws no punches right out of the gate.
Some early game enemies and environmental hazards will swiftly put Hornet to rest as early as the opening hours of the game due to how much damage they deal.
This mod prevents that, reducing all instances of damage from foes to just one pip of your health gauge.
Permanent Compass Effect
The Compass returns from Hollow Knight practically unchanged. Like before, it’s instrumental in helping you navigate Pharloom by marking your location on the game’s map. However, its use also means you’ll be dedicating a Tool slot on your chosen Crest to it, preventing the use of other powerful Tools.
The Permanent Compass mod means you’ll know exactly where you are in the world without having to equip the Compass, freeing up space for other Tools.
Boss & Enemy Health Bars
Besides phase transitions, Silksong provides no easily discernible method of knowing how close you are to defeating normal enemies or bosses.
Once installed, this mod adds an overlay that tells you exactly how much health a foe has remaining, better signalling whether your next attempt has any chance of succeeding, or whether you’re better off packing it in and returning to a Bench to try again without wasting precious resources.
Permanent Magnet Effect
Just like the Compass mod, this handy addition allows you to benefit from the Magnetite Brooch’s benefits without having to equip it, freeing up another yellow Tool slot for something more important.
Rosary Beads are integral to unlocking checkpoints and purchasing upgrades, so having them automatically pulled towards you will ensure you’re not missing out on the all-important currency when it drops from enemies in hard-to-reach places.
Teleport
While this mod doesn’t let you move around the map at will, what it does do, is essentially let you create a custom checkpoint. By following the mod’s walkthrough, you can save Hornet’s position anywhere you’ve already explored on the map and return to it at any time.
Do note that the mod’s creator warns against using it in certain situations, including cutscenes or when incapacitated in any way.
All Enemies Drop Rosary Beads
Considering how important they are to progression, Rosary Beads can be extremely hard to come by, especially as not all enemies drop them. Weak foes generally only drop Shards, with Rosaries being reserved for stronger opponents.
To ease the demands on Hornet’s wallet, this mod forces every enemy, no matter how dangerous (or not) they are, to drop the small beads that Pharloom’s residents are so fond of.
FlintSlatePlus
The Flintslate is an extremely powerful tool that allows Hornet to imbue her weapon with fire or poison to deal additional damage. The length of this buff is also incredibly short by default, though, making it not a particularly efficient buff to use in terms of Shard cost.
FlintSlatePlus lets you customize this duration to whatever you see fit, making it feel far less punishing to use when you’re in need of a temporary damage boost.
