As a child of the early 90s, I have very fond memories of playing with TMNT toys as a kid. Even just looking at this playset is causing uncontrollable waves of nostalgia. I only ever had a few action figures (specifically Donatello), so it's the design of the Turtles themselves that is really bringing me back. Modern interpretations of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are great I think, but nothing can really top a mean-mugging Raphael or Leonardo from the '80s. At least for me.
We broke the news of this playset going up for preorder on the IGN Deals instagram and it's clear that Amazon has struck a very specific nostalgic vein with this set. Commenters are chiming in with their remembered love of this set or deep disappointment for not being able to get one themselves when they were young. Now that it's being re-released, adults now have the chance to relive a childhood moment themselves or together with their kids. And since adults becoming one of the biggest markets in the toy industry, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if more and more classic toys get brought back. LEGO has also done something similar with the recent Game Boy set that is being sold as an 18+ build.
