Red Dead Redemption 2 players have made a major discovery dubbed the ‘Spider Dream Mystery,’ and the community is rushing to solve it before GTA 6 releases.

First released back in 2018, Red Dead Redemption 2 is chock-full of side quests, hidden items, and treasure, but one major new puzzle has the game’s players in awe.

Over a full 7 years since being released, players noticed spider webs that only appear at certain times of the day, which has led players to a secret message.

Now, the RDR2 community is coming together to investigate and solve this wild mystery, which has alluded players for almost a decade.

What is the Spider Dream Mystery in RDR2?

The trail starts at a telephone pole near Cornwall Kerosene & Tar, marked with a carved spider. At the top of the pole is a web with a feather, but it only appears during a very narrow window of time. The spider carving points toward seven additional webs that follow the same pattern.

These webs only reveal themselves late at night, usually between 2–3 AM. or 3–4 AM, and vanish outside those hours. At the center of the spider is a separate, larger web, that appears earlier, between 1–2 AM. This one, however, doesn’t include feathers and instead aligns to form the shape of an “N” alongside a telephone pole.

From there, players headed straight north from the center webs to another telephone pole that players can interact with by shooting it. After clearing away some wood, an inscription is revealed that reads “W” along with five telephone poles.

After moving five poles west, players found another shootable pole. Hitting it reveals a second inscription that reads “NW,” alongside a symbol believed to be a guitar.

Unfortunately, that’s where the puzzle ends for now. Heading north west does eventually lead to a guitar in Fort Wallace, but nothing has been triggered by interacting with it. It also leads to Spider Gorge, but so far, the trail has run cold.

Furthermore, the feathers are called “spiderdream” in the game’s files, hence the name of the mystery.

Players are now trying to shoot the feathers in a certain order and comb through the map for other clues, but at the time of writing, the community hasn’t found made further progress.

One of the leaders in RDR2 YouTube content, Strange Man, has documented the findings so far, and is urging hunters to solve this mystery before GTA 6 releases in November 2026.

A big problem with that goal is the likely possibility that this is cut content and these clues were just left over in the game without having an actual payoff.
