A dog abandoned at a Las Vegas airport and whose story went viral online has now found a forever home just days after local police raised awareness of the dog’s situation.

As previously reported, the dog, nicknamed JetBlue by airport staff after the airline of the same name, was left tied to a baggage sizer at Harry Reid International Airport after his owner was denied boarding due to incomplete service animal paperwork.

Police later arrested the woman on charges including animal abandonment and resisting arrest, and the dog was taken into the care of Retriever Rescue Las Vegas.

As reported by KLAS 8 News Now on February 20, JetBlue has now been adopted after receiving thousands of applications to give it a home. The site reports that an unnamed police officer who responded to the scene when JetBlue was originally reported as abandoned has become its new owner.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police’s X/Twitter post said the incident occurred on February 2, 2026.

The two-year-old has been cared for by Retriever Rescue after completing a mandatory hold period and receiving vaccinations and medical treatment while waiting for adoption.

8 News says the officer and JetBlue will be reunited on Sunday, February 22. “This is more than an adoption. It’s a story of compassion, accountability, and a hero stepping forward for a dog who deserved better,” said Retriever Rescue.
