Adam Sandler included a heartwarming blink-and-you’ll-miss-it tribute to the late Cameron Boyce in Happy Gilmore 2.
The sequel, streaming on Netflix now, follows Sandler’s golfer as he returns to the game to make enough money to send his daughter to ballet school.
It boasts some huge, unexpected cameos, including but not limited to Margaret Qualley, Kid Cudi, Travis Kelce, Post Malone, and even Eminem.
If you look closely in one scene, you’ll also spot Boyce, whom Sandler starred alongside in the Grown Ups movies.
Happy Gilmore 2 pays tribute to Cameron Boyce
In one scene, Happy approaches a check-in booth at a golf course. If you look at the bottom right, you’ll see Boyce on a small TV screen. It appears to be an episode of Jessie, a Disney Channel series which was one of Boyce’s earliest projects.
Boyce died in 2019 at the age of 20 after experiencing a seizure in his sleep. He had a wide range of acting credits before his death, notably starring in the Descendants films and Paradise City.
The clip has been shared across TikTok, with one fan writing: “I didn’t notice that I’m going to cry.”
“That’s beautiful. Cameron Boyce was such a talented young actor who would’ve been doing even greater things today,” another wrote.
“I love how he loves him because every single movie he has made there has been some sort of tribute or nod to Cam,” a third commented.
Sandler also paid tribute to Boyce at the end of Hubie Halloween, writing: “In loving memory of Cameron Boyce. Gone way too soon and one of the kindest, coolest, funniest, and most talented kids we knew. You live on forever in our hearts and are truly missed every day.”
After the actor’s death, Sandler remembered Boyce in an Instagram post. “Too young. Too sweet. Too funny,” it read.
“Just the nicest, most talented, and most decent kid around. Loved that kid. Cared so much about his family. Cared so much about the world. Thank you, Cameron, for all you gave to us.”
