Aether Blade is in new Black Ops 6 Zombies map but you can’t get it yet

Black Ops 6’s sixth and final Zombies map, Reckoning, features a side Easter egg that unlocks the legendary Aether Blade, but you can’t even do it just yet.

Every Zombies map comes with a new main story Easter egg and Wonder Weapon to discover, and the Reckoning is no different. It also brings plenty of other secrets for players to uncover, some of which offer items that can make or break a run.

It turns out that one of these side objectives unlocks the coveted Aether Blade, which was last seen in Modern Warfare 3 (2023). This throwable Lethal can instantly kill multiple zombies at once, making it incredibly useful for surviving until the higher rounds.

However, the Field Upgrade you need to complete the Easter egg and get hold of it isn’t in the game at the time of writing.

Aether Blade unavailable in BO6 Zombies without Mister Peeks

As shown by MrDalekJD, who was able to complete the objective early thanks to an unlock tool, the Aether Blade EE requires the new Mister Peeks Field Upgrade, which hasn’t yet been released in Black Ops 6.

Instead, this is one of the rewards for the upcoming 90s Action Heroes event, which is expected to go live on August 21. So, for now at least, this valuable item is unavailable to most players, as they’re unable to complete one of the steps, where Mister Peeks knocks down a painting to reveal a safe.

On the bright side, thanks to MrDalekJD, we do know exactly what you need to do once the Field Upgrade arrives.

How to get Aether Blade in BO6 Zombies Reckoning

1. Activate the Pack-a-Punch machine.
2. Pick up three paintings scattered around the map in the following locations:
   • T2 Sub-Level 10, near the GobbleGum machine.
   • Project Janus Reception, behind the door next to the teleporter.
   • At the top of T2 Android Assembly, behind a wet floor sign.
3. Place them in the slots on the wall in the Director’s Office.
4. Head to any Crafting Table and make an ARC-XD.
5. Go down the stairs in Dark Entity Containment and the ARC-XD through the gap in the fence.
6. Detonate next to the crystal behind The Forsaken.
7. Follow the purple glow to more crystals and destroy them to drop a Safe Key.
8. Go back to Director’s Office and activate the Mister Peeks Field Upgrade by the painting closest to the teleporter.
9. When it falls down and reveals the safe, use the Safe Key to open it.
10. This triggers a lockdown where you’ll need to fight off many powerful enemies, including a Disciple.
11. Kill the Disciple and the Aether Blade will appear in the safe for you to pick up.

Once you’ve done all this, the Aether Blade is yours. Throwing it instantly kills multiple enemies, and it automatically reappears in your inventory every five seconds, allowing you to use it over and over.

However, it’s worth noting that it has caught a significant nerf compared to the last time we saw it, as it can now only kill three zombies per throw instead of five.
