Roblox’s facial age verification rules have landed globally, requiring every player to prove their age before being able to chat in the platform’s various games, but some are taking the matter into their own hands.
Following the controversy regarding Roblox’s handling of child safety across its games, the platform has made a key change to all accounts. Now, they require users to submit their ID (if they’re over 13) or send over a facial scan, which estimates their ages. This then places you in a certain group depending on your age, to ensure users are speaking to players in their age bracket.
Shortly after the announcement and rollout, some fans began kicking back at the implementation, with some even creating age-verified Roblox accounts and selling them on eBay.
Roblox users are selling their age-verified accounts
As seen throughout X and eBay itself, various listings have appeared, selling age-verified accounts, complete with the location, and of course, the age of the user.
What this does is let you sign into the account without having to use any ID or facial scan, voiding the new feature Roblox has added.
The listings range from $4.45 (as shared on X) to over $8, each with various age brackets. One is even going for over $100, coming with a verified age and tons of Robux to boot.
It’s worth noting, however, that Roblox has explained that they are “constantly evaluating user behavior to determine if someone is significantly older or younger than expected. In these situations, we will soon begin asking users to repeat the age-check process.”
So, purchasing these is not advised, and could get your account banned or asked to revalidate your age once again.
This isn’t the first time Roblox accounts have been listed on eBay. The site is full of accounts with various amounts of Robux, rare cosmetics, or rare usernames from nearly 10 years ago.
