A TikToker was given a shock as an AI drive-thru assistant at White Castle tried to charge him $15,000 for an order that should have cost around $15

Artificial intelligence has been used in plenty of stores and restaurants over the years, typically being helpful to customers and saving them a fair bit of time.

However, for TikToker Truckerboyju, the AI at White Castle’s drive-thru only served to cause him a headache. The TikToker had ordered a number twelve combo for breakfast, but things went off the rails. Firstly, the AI assistant attempted to add nine of those to his basket, bringing the initial total to around $150.

“It says $147. Why does it say that?” he asked the virtual assistant. However, the machine took that as a new order and ballooned his total to $15,400. “Bruh, what the f*ck? Get me a team member! What the f*ck?”

TikTok views blast AI assistants at drive-thru

The 35-second-long clip has gone viral on TikTok, racking up over seven million views and thousands of baffled comments along the way.

“That’s the cost of 55 burgers, 55 fries, 55 tacos, 55 pies, 55 cokes, 100 tater tots, 100 pizzas, 100 tenders, 100 meatballs, 100 coffees, 55 wings, 55 shakes, 55 pancakes, 55 pastas, 55 peppers, and 155 taters!” one viewer worked out.

“I 100% REFUSE to eat anywhere that has AI Drive Through. PERIOD,” another said. “Some fast food workers were laid off for this technology btw,” commented another.

Truckerboyju has posted several other TikToks showing his interactions with the AI assistant. While they haven’t tried to charge him a down payment for a house again, they have taken plenty of time away from him.

He has called the system “stupid” in other clips too, showing how it’s taken him nearly two minutes to place an order.

“And THIS is supposed to be more efficient, how? Imagine the nightmare during rush hours,” another baffled viewer added.
