Alien: Earth is a new TV series set two years before the events of Alien, so we asked the cast which franchise characters they’d like to see join the ensemble should they crossover.
Alien: Earth is an eight-part Alien series from the mind of Fargo and Legion showrunner Noah Hawley.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth is different to the movies in that it features new synthetic humans called hybrids and cyborgs, while there are also fresh breeds of alien, with terrifying new life cycles.
Our Alien: Earth review called it “the best the franchise has been since Isolation,” while during a recent chat with the cast, we found out which movie characters they’d want to appear in future seasons.
Alien: Earth cast want Ash and Kane in show
With the timeline making that crossover possible, we asked Noah Hawley about characters from the franchise appearing in Alien: Earth, and he kept his cards close to his chest, saying: “I don’t have it all worked out. I think what I would say is, is it plausible that the show might end up reaching the moment in which the movie begins and going beyond it? I think that’s certainly plausible.”
That “plausible” was enough for us, so we asked the actors to pick the movie characters they want in the show.
Babou Ceesay – who plays cyborg Morrow – says Ian Holm’s science officer, revealing that “Ash is stuck in my psyche.”
He even gives the character a role in the show involving Timothy Olyphant’s synth, saying “I’d like to see Ash come along and smoke Kirsh.” In response, Olyphant comes back with: “Take it easy! It took an ugly turn there. It took a really ugly turn.”
Alex Lawther – who plays human Hermit – has a less violent and more alcohol-fuelled suggestion, opting for John Hurt’s Kane.
“I would bring back John Hurt,” says Lawther. “Just to spend some time with John Hurt, and apparently go out drinking with John Hurt. In Thailand. I’m sure he’s got some stories.”
