With the launch of Battlefield 6, you may be inclined to go back and try some of the older installments too. That's why we've created this page with release and story order lists, so you can choose which one suits you best. Just use the buttons at the top to switch between them.
Battlefield 1
What it’s about: Discover classic Battlefield gameplay with epic multiplayer and an adventure-filled campaign. Experience the dawn of all-out war, only in Battlefield 1. Battlefield 1942
What it’s about: Building upon and vastly refining the ideas from Codename Eagle, Battlefield 1942 let players engage in infantry combat and get behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles from submarines to battleships and bombers. The game introduced the signature Battlefield rock-paper-scissors gameplay, as well as the exciting “Battlefield Moments” people refer to when talking about their unique and unscripted experiences within the multiplayer game.
Battlefield V

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
What it’s about: Battlefield: Bad Company 2 brings the award-winning Battlefield gameplay to the forefront of PC gaming with best-in-class vehicular combat and unexpected "Battlefield moments." New vehicles like the ATV and a transport helicopter allow for all-new multiplayer tactics on the Battlefield. With the Frostbite-enabled Destruction 2.0 system, you can take down entire buildings and create your own fire points by blasting holes through cover. You can also compete in four-player teams in two squad-only game modes, fighting together to unlock exclusive awards and achievements. Battles are set across expansive maps, each with a different tactical focus. The game also sees the return of the B Company squad in a more mature single-player campaign.

What it’s about: In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, the Chinese, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Battlefield 3
What it’s about: In Battlefield 3, players step into the role of the elite U.S. Marines. Battlefield Hardline
What it’s about: Battlefield: Hardline features a whole new variety of gameplay that breaks away from the traditional Battlefield game modes. The new game modes are Heist Mode, Rescue Mode, Hotwire Mode and Bloodmoney Mode. The focus of the game has been shifted to police rather than the millitary background that has spanned the whole series up to now. Players will have access to various millitary grade weapons and vehicles as well as having police equipment such as tasers and handcuffs.
Battlefield 4
What it’s about: Battlefield 4 is the genre-defining action blockbuster created by Dice, and made from moments that blur the line between game and glory, moments found only in Battlefield. Battlefield 2042

Battlefield 2142
What it’s about: Having placed their previous online shooters in WWII, the Vietnam War, and modern day settings, Battlefield 2142 took place in a future where a new ice age had thrown the world into a panic.
The soil not covered by ice can only feed a fraction of the Earth’s population, and players choose to fight for one of two military super powers in an epic battle for survival: The European Union or the newly formed Pan Asian Coalition. Introducing a futuristic art style, science fiction weaponry, and the asymmetric game mode Titan, Battlefield 2142 still has a hardcore following that doesn’t want to leave the future behind.
