Bungie has waived the usual asking price for Destiny 2‘s numerous expansions for a limited time, allowing players to jump in and play everything the game has to offer free of charge.

On July 15, the looter shooter’s next expansion, The Edge of Fate, goes live across all platforms. In addition to introducing a new location in the form of Kepler and numerous new weapons, Bungie’s using this particular addition as an opportunity to rework several progression systems from the ground up.

That means the sandbox, as it is currently, will undergo seismic shifts when Edge of Fate rolls around, but those systematic changes will be free for all players – only the campaign and new gear will require purchase.

That being the case, now’s as good a time as any to jump in.

Destiny 2 Expansion open access details

Per Bungie’s explanation in their July 3 blog post:

“Starting July 8… until July 22, all currently available Destiny 2 Expansions will be available for free on all supported platforms (PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, Microsoft Store, Epic Games Store).

Additionally, all three currently available Episodes will also be free for all supported platforms until July 15. And the cherry on top: all the currencies, gear, Title, Triumphs, and cosmetics earned during the Open Access period are yours to keep.”

For reference, these are all of the expansions, usually requiring purchase, that will be free for the open-access period:

  • Forsaken
  • Shadowkeep
  • Beyond Light
  • The Witch Queen
  • Lightfall
  • The Final Shape

It’s worth noting that the promotion doesn’t include any pre-Forsaken content like Curse of Osiris or Warmind. These add-ons were vaulted and are no longer available, similar to the vanilla Red War campaign, the latter resulting in a spot of legal trouble for Bungie.
