Skill moves are vital tools in your Rematch arsenal, allowing you to make defenders look silly, but it can take time to learn each one and when to use them.
From the developers of Sifu, Rematch takes all the fun of Rocket League and takes it back to its roots. Instead of suped-up cars, you control one member of three, four, or five-person football team, with the simple aim of scoring more than your opponents in six minutes.
Of course, you can pass and shoot, but you’ll need to make use of skill moves if you want to climb the ranks. These are essential for getting past defenders and creating goal-scoring opportunities.
So, here’s a breakdown of how to do skill moves and all the tricks at your disposal.
How to do skill moves in Rematch
All you have to do is press R1 and X (PS5), RB and A (Xbox Series), or C (PC) to perform flashy skill moves in Rematch. The type of flick you perform is dependent on which direction you are traveling.
Alternatively, you can also do safer skill moves that keep the ball closer to your feet using L2 and X (PS5), LT and A (Xbox Series), or CTRL and Space (PC).
This is drastically different from football sims like EA FC 25, where there’s a whole list of inputs to memorize.
All skill move controls
So, while the controls themselves are pretty easy to grasp, the difficult part is knowing when to deploy each one. For example, the Rainbow Flick is perfect for lofting the ball over defenders who get too close, but you lose a little bit of control and open yourself up to a tackle.
Meanwhile, the Roulette lets you go around players easily, but can only be done while in the much slower dribbling stance. So it’s good for keeping the ball close in tight areas, but it’s not a great way of exploiting space behind the defender.
The real challenge, though, is learning how to chain them together. Once you fully master Rematch’s mechanics, you’ll be able to change direction with a well-timed Ronaldo Chop, flick the ball up with the Rainbow flick, and Juggle it down the pitch to line up a volley.
