Jennifer’s Body is a comedy-horror that failed at the box office, but has since built a cult following, so-much-so that a sequel is on the cards, and star Amanda Seyfried has been speculating about what Part 2 might look like.

A good deal of hype surrounded the release of Jennifer’s Body in 2009, with Juno writer Diablo Cody tackling horror for the first time, and Transformers star Megan Fox giving comedy a go.

The twisted tale of a possessed teenage girl devouring High School boys paved the way for themes of sexism, misogyny, and gender politics, with a healthy dose of satire baked into the film’s whip-smart script.

Reviews were mostly negative however, and the film failed to make much of a dent at the box office. But Jennifer’s Body has since been re-evaluated by critics, and embraced by a generation of young fans, resulting in talk now turning to a belated sequel, and Dexerto asking Star Amanda Seyfried about that prospect during The Testament of Ann Lee junket.

Amanda Seyfriend wonders what Jennifer’s Body 2 “looks like” 15 years on

In October 2025, Jennifer’s Body director Karyn Kusama said that Diablo Cody is busy working on the sequel script, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “I’m very excited to hear what comes of it. I know some of the bones of it, so I’m not going to give anything away, but it sounds fun and crazy like the first film. And I have no doubt that Diablo will do something absolutely incredible with it.”

Amanda Seyfied has previously said she’d be game, but only if Megan Fox signs on, so we asked if she’s spoken to her co-star about the project.

“No, no,” says Seyfried. “I got a call about it, or a text about it, a year, a year and a half ago. They were like ‘I’m just testing your temperature, are you in?’ And I’m like ‘Yeah.’ It is a cult classic.

But Seyfried is also intrigued by where Jennifer’s Body 2 might sit in the current cultural landscape. “I just wonder what that looks like,” Seyfried says. “It’s interesting doing a sequel so many years later, but I understand that a generation has passed, and there’s something new to be found, and the cultural shifts happening. I don’t know – it’ll be interesting to see what comes of it.”

Amanda Seyfried can currently be seen in The Testament of Ann Lee, which is out now in US cinemas, and hits UK screens on February 20, 2026. Alternatively head here for more great movies out this month.
