Embark Studios CEO Patrick Soderlund plans to apologize to an unsuspecting Italian hotel that was bombarded with reviews when fans realized it shared a name with an Arc Raiders map.

Since it was released in November 2025, Stella Montis has become one of the most divisive maps in Arc Raiders. While it contains tons of valuable loot, its tight corridors, challenging enemies, and forboding atmosphere seem to bring out the worst in players, as it’s become the map that players use when they’re looking for a fight.

So, when the community came across a hotel in the Campitello di Fassa region of Italy with the name ‘Stella Montis,’ fans couldn’t resist having some fun.

The business was flooded with reviews, praising it as a great place to stay “after an exhaustive day exploring the Buried City,” but calling out the “rats” that camp the extraction.

In an interview with IGN, Patrick Soderlund was asked about the trend, to which he replied, “I didn’t know about that. That’s amazing. I feel sorry for the poor hotel, though. I’ll probably have to call them and apologize.”

He was also quizzed on whether or not the Stella Montis map was named after the hotel, and he admitted that he wasn’t sure if it was the inspiration.

“Everything is inspired by locations in Italy. [CCO] Stefan [Strandberg], it’s not a secret, he’s an Italian lover. He loves wine. He loves Italy. So there’s absolutely something there. We also felt like Italy is a good place for a lot of this to happen for multiple reasons, but I will have to defer to Stefan Strandberg for that specific question.”

“I can find out – I will find out because now I’m intrigued – and I probably will call up that hotel and apologize for what we’ve caused them.”
