Arc Raiders has begun tackling hackers in a big way, as players have been reporting a wave of bans for those using aimbots and other cheats.

Despite an overwhelmingly successful launch, cheaters have been one of the few ongoing issues in Arc Raiders. Streamers started to voice their concerns, comparing the game to Call of Duty, and Embark Studios responded, promising “significant changes” to their detection systems.

Now, it appears that steps are finally being taken, as reports have been popping up online of temporary bans. Those using cheats have received a message reading, “Your account has been temporarily suspended for behaviour that violates our code of conduct,” leaving them unable to play for 30 days.

This is reportedly the punishment for the first offense, while the second results in a hardware ID ban, which prevents guilty players from accessing Arc Raiders on a specific PC.

Arc Raiders players want permanent bans for cheaters

While this is clearly a step in the right direction, many players think that these penalties are still too lenient and are calling for permanent bans.

“If they’re cheating then why isn’t it permanent?” asked one player on Reddit.

“Should be permanent, and a hardware ban,” added another on X. “Too many developers let cheaters, proven cheaters, just create a new account and start all over again.”

Embark Studios haven’t officially said anything about their approach bans at the time of writing, but some players have suggested that there might be legal reasons why they can’t perma-ban cheaters.

Unlike Warzone and Overwatch, Arc Raiders is a paid game rather than free to play, so it’s possible that some countries may have stricter rules about permanently banning someone from a product they purchased with real money.
