Many Arc Raiders players on PC have discovered ways to adjust their settings to gain a huge advantage by being able to see in the dark and through smoke.
By using console commands and other graphics settings, players can remove anything that obstructs their visibility on any given map, including environmental effects like fog and dust. This strips away a lot of the atmosphere and leaves the game very bright with incredibly clear sightlines.
The same can be applied to smoke grenades, as these settings all but remove the effect and let you see straight through it as if it weren’t even there. Not only does this make life easier in fights, but it also means that anyone using them who doesn’t have the same settings applied is actively putting themselves at a disadvantage.
Arc Raiders players demand nerf to OP visibility settings
After launch, some PC players also used Nvidia filters to see clearly during night raids. These have since been disabled by Embark Studios, but as demonstrated in the clip below, console commands can also be used to have the same effect, essentially turning night raids into day raids.
Some are even running low graphics settings and giving themselves a huge FOV, taking away all of the detail in the maps and allowing them to focus purely on hunting enemy players.
These exploits offer a huge advantage, especially in crossplay lobbies against console players who don’t have access to console commands, with one poster arguing it’s “basically cheating.” Now, fans are calling for the devs to address the issue as quickly as possible.
“Players can make it to where smokes don’t appear for them as well as other insanely broken settings via console commands like being able to see everything on night raids or have broken FOVs,” wrote one player on Reddit. “The devs need to fix this shit or this game will die.”
“If an update wasn’t required urgently before, it absolutely is now,” said another on X.
Embark Studios recently responded to calls for tighter measures against cheaters, where they explained they will soon be “implementing significant changes to our rulesets and deploying new detection mechanisms to identify and remove cheaters.”
However, given that these exploits come from existing settings rather than additional software, this is a different battle entirely.
