ARC Raiders has begun permanently banning some of its most infamous cheaters, marking the strongest action yet taken by Embark Studios after weeks of public backlash from streamers and players.

Reports of permanent bans started circulating on January 16, with Arc Raiders streamer THUMP sharing screenshots that appear to show repeat offenders receiving irreversible account suspensions. The bans reportedly target players who had been stream sniping and cheating against high-profile streamers for hours at a time over the past several months.

The move follows mounting pressure on Embark after prominent creators including Nadeshot, Shroud, Ninja, and TheBurntPeanut publicly criticized the game’s handling of cheating earlier this month.

Permanent bans replace temporary suspensions for egregious cheating

Earlier ban waves in Arc Raiders focused largely on temporary suspensions, with first-time offenders reportedly receiving 30-day bans and repeat violations escalating to hardware ID restrictions. While welcomed, those measures were widely criticized by players who argued they allowed cheaters to simply return on new accounts.

Screenshots shared by THUMP now show a different message entirely. The in-game notice reads, “Your account has been permanently suspended for behavior that violates our code of conduct. Due to the severity of your violation, access to your account will not be restored.”

“Just wanted to let you know that they just banned one of them permanently 30 minutes ago,” THUMP wrote on X. “After a month long of them doing nothing, your rant made the difference in them finally taking action.”

Additional screenshots appear to come from private Discord servers where multiple users claim they were banned at the same time. One user responded, “Not 1. But 2. They got me aswell bro dont worry,” suggesting more than one long-time offender was removed.

Cheaters reportedly love targeting Shroud and Ninja

Further confirmation surfaced during Symfuhny’s January 16 livestream, when a player claiming to be associated with one of the banned cheaters stream sniped Sym in-game. During the encounter, the player stated that several prolific cheaters had been permanently banned.

When asked which streamers were targeted most frequently, the player reportedly named Shroud and Ninja, two of the most vocal critics of Arc Raiders’ cheating problem in early January.

THUMP later added context to the situation, saying, “For the past month he’s been stream sniping and killing streamers with cheats to make a YouTube montage while the devs are vacationing.”

Embark Studios has not yet issued an official statement confirming the permanent ban policy or detailing how widespread the enforcement will be. However, the screenshots and multiple independent reports suggest a shift away from temporary penalties toward permanent account removals for severe or repeated violations.
