Arc Raiders players believe that the game’s biggest known enemies are slowly making their way towards them, hinting that they could be about to start attacking.
There are already plenty of robot enemies to deal with in Arc Raiders, from smaller drones like Wasps to towering Matriarchs or The Queen. But ever since launch, the largest known Arc has lurked menacingly in the background.
Emporers, gigantic, map-sized enemies can be seen off in the distance on maps like Blue Gate and Buried City. Although they don’t currently pose any threat to players, their presence alone has been enough to get fans speculating about when they’ll be forced to fight them.
Developer Embark Studios has never commented on when or even if they will be added to the game properly, but it appears that a showdown could be imminent.
Arc Raiders players think the Emporers are coming soon
In recent weeks, fans have begun noticing that the Emperors are spawning closer and closer to the playable maps. At launch, they could be seen way off in the background, but they’ve started to linger closer to the edge of maps like Blue Gate and Buried City, showing off their imposing size.
A number of social media posts have popped up asking, “Am I going crazy or are the Emperors getting closer?”
One Reddit user even shared their own screenshot from mid-December, showing just how much closer they seem to be spawing.
Again, Embark Studios hasn’t said anything official about what they’re planning, if anything, but if this is all a deliberate build-up, what happens once the Emporers get too close?
Some fans have speculated that they could mark the arrival of a new endgame activity where you have to work with other raiders to take one down. However, given just how large they are, it seems unlikely that they would be able to spawn on existing maps with all of the buildings and awkward geography.
“Maybe there will be a new map,” theorized one player. “We’ll spawn on top of them, and raiders will have to work together to take it down by infiltrating and destroying objectives from inside.”
While this has been enough to get players dreaming, it’s also possible that the Emporers aren’t actually closing in. There’s also the possibility that more potential spawns have been added, meaning that they appear closer in some matches and further away in others.
Either way, after months of fighting The Queen, the community is itching for the Emporers to finally make their way into Arc Raiders to give them their toughest challenge yet.
