An Arc Raiders player’s cries for help were answered, but not in-game, as a neighbor came to the rescue in real life, kicking at their door.

We’re all guilty of getting a little too immersed from time to time. Whether it’s our favorite single-player journeys or the most chaotic multiplayer experiences, every once in a while, you can’t help but scream.

With Arc Raiders, a game centered around interactions with other players, screaming is more probable than not. What else are you to do when a stranger betrays you or a Bombardier gives you grief?

Well, like NICKMERCS learned late last year, screaming out for help in-game can have real-world ramifications. After crying out for support, another player was left stunned when a concerned neighbor began kicking their door down.

Concerned neighbor kicks door of Arc Raiders player

A January 3, 2026 recording from a Ring device showed a moment where Reddit user ‘dreamthorp’ got a bit too engaged in Arc Raiders.

After roughly 30 seconds of yelling out for help, intended to bring others to their aid in the game, a neighbor instead came out the front of the apartment.

The concerned neighbor first knocked on the door before asking if the man inside was alright. With no clear answer, the next thing they heard from inside was “Help me! Somebody help me!”

Without hesitation, the neighbor stepped back and began kicking on the door. “My heart just about jumped out of my chest when I saw the door bulge like an explosion was behind it,” the Arc Raiders player said.

As further explained after the fact, the player wasn’t home. Instead, they were house-sitting for a friend. While they’re used to being loud in their own environment, they hadn’t considered the effect when in a smaller apartment building.

Near the end of a night raid on the Dam Battlegrounds map, the player was “trying to extract when a leaper landed” and downed them right away. With mere moments left before the extraction door closed, they screamed through the microphone to anyone who might hear their call for help. Little did they know the next-door neighbor would be the first on the scene.

The next day, the owner of the apartment sent a text, joking that their friend had an encounter with the neighbor.

“I had no idea I was that loud,” the player responded in the text chain. “I was like, bro, my bad, I’ll keep it down. He was like, ‘You’re fine, I was just making sure you weren’t getting murdered.’”

Following the incident, the player gifted the heroic neighbor some beers, when he learned “it was his natural instinct” to kick the door in, as he happened to be a firefighter.
