A warrant has been issued for Tyrese Gibson’s arrest following the death of a dog near his Atlanta home.
Gibson is best known for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast & Furious franchise, while he also appeared in the Transformers movies and the likes of Four Brothers, Death Race, and Morbius.
But the actor has been making headlines for the wrong reasons this week, due to his four dogs allegedly killing a neighbor’s pet.
An attorney for the actor says he is “co-operating fully with authorities,” but major questions still remain over the incident, including where his dogs are now.
Tyrese Gibson wanted for questioning over dog’s death
According to Entertainment Weekly, an arrest warrant was issued for Tyrese Gibson after his Atlanta neighbor alleged that four of the actor’s dogs killed his own pet.
A Fulton Country Police Department report states that Harrison Parker – who lives across the street from Gibson in the Buckhead area – called 911 on September 18 saying that the star’s Cane Corso dogs were on the loose, and had killed his Cavalier King Charles spaniel.
Police say that Gibson’s dogs had been seen on camera “scratching at a door across the street minutes before the attack,” and that Parker’s dog died soon after he let it out into the front yard.
Authorities also say the dogs had been “running loose on five occasions” before the attack, and that Gibson had received multiple warnings.
After the attack, they add that Gibson initially agreed to surrender his dogs, but then changed his mind. The Animal Services Department obtained a search warrant for the actor’s property and arrest warrant for alleged cruelty to animals, but the dogs were no longer there.
Gibson “co-operating fully” with authorities
Gibson’s lawyer Gabe Banks provided EW with a statement explaining he had moved the canines to a new home.
“Mr. Tyrese Gibson extends his deepest condolences to the family who lost their beloved dog to this tragic incident that occurred while Mr. Gibson was away from his home,” says the statement. “Upon learning of this unfortunate accident, Mr. Gibson immediately made the difficult decision to rehome his dogs to a safe and loving environment.
“Concerning the misdemeanor warrant, Mr. Gibson is cooperating fully with authorities to address and resolve this matter responsibly. Mr. Gibson asks for privacy and understanding as this matter is handled through the appropriate legal channels, and as he remains committed to the safety of his community and the well-being of all animals.”
