Asmongold is hitting out at shroud after the streamer urged his fans to vote for ARC Raiders as Game of the Year over Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, despite not even playing the latter.
It’s almost time for the 2025 Game Awards, and Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek, one of Twitch’s biggest FPS streamers, has made his voice loud and clear: ARC Raiders deserves the win.
“We’ve got to make sure this game wins Game of the Year,” shroud said to his loyal fanbase during a live broadcast. “Do not let that Expedition game win. Absolutely do not.”
“We all have to band together to make this game win. We multiplayer gamers are the minority, but I believe we can win.”
This rattled fellow content creator Asmongold, who struck back at shroud’s opinion, especially after learning that Grzesiek hadn’t even tried Expedition 33.
Asmongold blasts shroud over Game of the Year debate
On his own broadcast, Asmon watched a clip of shroud’s comments on GOTY and was shocked after checking his Steam profile and learning he hadn’t played Expedition 33.
“You motherf**ker!” Asmongold slammed. “Are you kidding me? You didn’t even play the game! It’s an FPS; you can shoot with free aim. He’d love it.”
The 35-year-old further called out shroud for claiming multiplayer gamers were the “minority” and urged the Polish-Canadian to play Expedition 33 and realize “how wrong he is.”
“That’s the only way you can win, by experiencing the far and away, greatest game that’s come out in a really long time. That’s the only way shroud can come out ahead in this.”
Asmon added that while he thinks ARC Raiders is a great game, it doesn’t hold a candle to Expedition 33, calling it “generational.”
“In 20 years, people will be looking back at how good Expedition 33 was. In 20 years, nobody will be giving a f**k about ARC Raiders. That’s the truth. Expedition 33 is a castle. ARC Raiders is a sand castle on the beach, and there’s a hurricane. It’s gonna get swept away the next time a new one comes out.”
Despite the two being in disagreement about GOTY, Asmongold did agree with shroud on one thing: the awards being rigged, something shroud has expressed as far back as 2024 when he said Game of the Year is “rigged” if Black Myth: Wukong didn’t win.
Meanwhile, shroud admitted that although he hasn’t played Expedition 33, he will if it ends up winning Game of the Year.
