Asus has announced a brand new piece of tech, allowing you to play a video game through extended reality glasses.

The Consumer Electronics Show is in full force, announcing various collaborations between Honda and Sony to make a car, and even a headset that will use AI to read your brain to increase your performance from HyperX. Naturally, Asus is no different, this time allowing you to take your video games on the go, not with their new Asus ROG Ally, but through a pair of glasses.

Gaming on the go is back on the rise once again (we won’t forget you, sweet DS and Vita) with the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and so much more, allowing players to enjoy AAA games no matter where they are. Well, Asus is taking that one step further, introducing a new way to play your favorite game from a set of glasses.

Asus reveals Extended Reality gaming glasses at CES

Announced during the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) and on YouTube, Asus has revealed a brand new set of Extended Reality glasses in their partnership with Xreal. The Asus ROG Xreal R1, as it’s been called, essentially allows you to stream a video directly to your glasses using a USB-C connection.

So, for example, you can connect these glasses to your laptop, PC, or even your ROG Ally. When you do, it’ll load up a 57-degree field of view and a 171-inch virtual screen at a distance of four virtual meters for you to play your chosen game on.

So, if you want a bigger screen for your laptop, want to just sit back on your sofa instead of your PC, or just want to game on the go, these glasses will offer you that chance.

The Asus ROG Xreal R1 has 240Hz micro-OLED 1080p lenses and comes with a ROG Control Dock for HDMI and DisplayPort connectivity for a seamless connection. For the ROG Ally, it’ll connect with a single USB-C cable.

As for sound, the glasses were revealed to have built-in Bose speakers. It also comes with automatic tint on the lenses to allow for lighting changes and weighs 91 grams.

No release date or price has been revealed yet, but Asus has explained that they’re aiming to launch the Asus ROG Xreal R1 in the first half of 2026.
