Minecraft is officially adding adorable new baby mobs in its upcoming update, bringing miniature versions of your favorite animals to your chosen world.
Whether it’s adding new mobs, like the Nautilus and the Sniffer, or making a few changes to certain scary additions, like the Happy Ghast or the Zombie Horse, Minecraft is never fully finished. In fact, in every update, it’s always promising to add more content, and this one may be one of its most adorable yet (yes, even cuter than the Happy Ghast).
In its next major update, Minecraft has revealed that it’s adding baby mobs to the game, bringing teeny versions of the game’s passive animals for you to find, tame, and keep as your own.
All baby mobs coming to Minecraft
Currently, we know there will be eight new baby mobs coming to the game, all with their new custom baby mob sounds:
- Wolf pups (with nine different variants)
- Kittens (with eleven variants)
- Piglets (with three variants)
- Calves
- Baby Chickens (with three variants)
- Baby Ocelots
- Lambs
- Baby Rabbits
How to spawn baby mobs
You can spawn a baby mob in Minecraft by using a spawn egg on an adult mob. Doing so will spawn a baby with the same variant as its parent.
Alternatively, you can of course breed your chosen mobs together; that’ll make an adorable baby mob without you worrying about a spawn egg.
When are baby mobs coming to Minecraft?
Currently, the baby mobs aren’t in full Minecraft yet, and are only available in Java’s Snapshot or Bedrock’s previews/betas. There’s no word as to when they’re going to be officially added, but we predict the next major game drop will be in March, as there are usually three months between each one.
