Popular music distribution platform Bandcamp has put its foot down, blocking all AI-generated music as fake artists climb the charts across rival services.

AI-generated music is becoming more difficult to detect by the day. What began as an experiment has quickly led to chart-topping ‘musicians’ and multi-million dollar deals as listeners tune into their fabricated instrumentals and vocals.

Most recently, an AI ‘artist’ by the name of Sienna Rose has appeared with three tracks on Spotify’s Viral 50 – USA Charts as the AI-generated music draws close to 3 million monthly listeners.

Standing firm against the current, however, Bandcamp is opposing the surge in AI content. Moving forward, the platform is blocking all AI-made music in a commitment to supporting human creativity.

Bandcamp bans AI in a commitment to human creativity

The platform made its declaration in a January 14, 2026 blog post called ‘Keeping Bandcamp Human.”

“We believe that the human connection found through music is a vital part of our society and culture, and that music is much more than a product to be consumed,” the statement read.

Respecting the history of music and its significance, the platform is blocking any and all AI-generated material. “Music and audio that is generated wholly or in substantial part by AI is not permitted on Bandcamp.”

Furthermore, any accounts leveraging AI tools to replicate sounds and styles of existing artists is “strictly prohibited” too. Any such activity on Bandscamp will result in termination of the account.

“With this policy, we’re putting human creativity first,” the blog outlined.
