It’s been just under three weeks since Battlefield 6 was released to huge fanfare (and a massive player count), and it’s already announcing a brand new feature, its highly anticipated battle royale.
When Call of Duty released its free battle royale Warzone back in 2020, fans went wild for its gameplay, so it makes sense that EA seeks to do exactly the same with the incredibly popular Battlefield 6.
Well, they’ve done just that, revealing the upcoming RedSec, a free-to-play battle royale adventure, and it’s basically been shadowdropped.
EA announces Battlefield 6’s free-to-play RedSec coming soon
As shared on the Battlefield X/Twitter page, EA has revealed that RedSec will be arriving on October 28, 2025, at 8 AM PT, which is 11 AM ET or 3 PM GMT.
With it, we got a brief teaser, showing that the game will be free to play, and will release just one day after they announced it. They also linked out to an official gameplay trailer, which will be dropped at the same time as the game itself.
Naturally, fans are thrilled, with many having already assumed RedSec would essentially be shadowdropped. “I’m not freaking out, you’re freaking out,” commented one excited fan, while others are already preparing to drop in as soon as it releases.
What it contains is yet to be seen, but at least players don’t have too long to wait until they can dive into the brand new game for Battlefield 6, alongside all the maps, weapons, and the upcoming first season the main game offers on October 28.
