Naval warfare appears to be in development for Battlefield 6, according to datamined files.
Battlefield 6 has been severely lacking any sort of water-based combat, despite it being one of the biggest demands from players. But that could be changing in the near future.
While discussing future content on October 6, the developers teased that “requests for naval warfare have not gone unnoticed,” adding, “nor have the calls for a certain fan-favorite little helicopter, platoons, and more.”
Well, it seems like the devs weren’t just listening, but have been actively working on bringing naval combat to Battlefield 6, and we already have a good idea of what to expect.
Battlefield 6 naval vehicles leaked
According to a report by Insider-Gaming, strings of code in the multiplayer files revealed a slew of water-based vehicles.
The files include references to Jet Skis and RHIBs (Rigid-Hulled Inflatable Boats), suggesting that they could be added in a future update.
It’s not clear exactly when naval combat could be making a return to Battlefield, but such highly-requested content could fuel its own season with maps focused on water-based warfare. Plus, the upcoming battle royale mode.
There isn’t very much in the way of water in current maps, so adding locations more geared towards naval combat would be key if or when these vehicles make their way to the game.
Of course, it’s also possible that Battlefield 6 doesn’t implement the same level of naval combat we’ve seen in previous games while still adding vehicles and maps with more water.
Meanwhile, BF6 has been praised for cracking down on cheaters by banning Cronus Zen users for using aim assist cheats, sending the cheat sellers scrambling.
