After a lot of speculation and fan complaints, a Battlefield 6 dev has confirmed that weapon bloom has been bugged since launch and that a fix is on the way.

Despite an overwhelmingly positive reception, there have been a few issues that have plagued the launch of Battlefield 6. One of the most talked about is weapon bloom, which has been causing players to miss by adding a degree of randomness to each shot.

For a while, it wasn’t clear if this was the result of a bug or an intentional gameplay decision to make the shooter feel more realistic. Now, a dev has finally confirmed that there are bugs making bloom more severe.

Weapon bloom fix is coming soon in Battlefield 6

Streamer TacticalBrit shared a clip of BF6, showing that “spread/bloom is not resetting correctly.” To this, Shroud replied, claiming that this was the same bug that affected the feature during the beta.

However, Principal Game Designer, Florian Le Bihan, replied to set the record straight.

“The Beta bug was actually fixed but we’ve identified another issue (two in fact) that impacts dispersion/bloom in an unintended way and will cause you to have more dispersion at times,” he wrote.

“The team is working on this and we’re looking at general balance/tuning of dispersion too.”

So, there are multiple bugs causing bloom increase in certain situations, meaning your shots are more likely to stray away from where you’re aiming, and the team are actively working on a fix.

It also sounds like the devs are also considering reducing dispersion following the backlash since launch, but he goes as far as to say that it will be nerfed in the future.

The feature has proved fairly divisive so far, with some fans welcoming the extra realism and challenge, while others believe it makes the game’s gunfights less satisfying.

We’ll have to wait and see exactly how they tweak weapon bloom going forward, but players can rest assured that, at the very least, the bugs will be fixed soon.
