Battlefield 6’s Portal mode lets players create their own custom maps and modes, but it’s mostly been used for XP farms and a place to complete the more difficult challenges.

This has led to the frustrating “Global Game Quota Exceeded” error, where server capacity is full and you can’t create a new Portal server. The devs are aware of the issue and what’s causing it, and responded in a community update on October 17.

“Over the past week, many of you noticed that we reached maximum capacity on community servers,” said DICE. “After reviewing the data, we found that a large number of these servers were created primarily to earn XP, inflate player stats, and earn special accolades through defeating bots.”

While they said they understand why it’s happening, they acknowledged that “With so many servers focused on farming XP rather than active play, it’s become noticeably harder for players to create and find experiences to play with other people.”

BF6 devs to crack down on XP farms

To combat this, they’re working on “adjustments that are intended to diminish the number of XP farms taking up server space,” while making it easier to play with friends on custom and verified experiences.

How they plan to implement this isn’t clear yet, but after the update, they expect “all experiences, both custom and verified, will need to be republished by players before they can create an active server.”

The main reason for these XP farm servers is the slow pace of leveling up and unlocking new weapons and attachments, as well as the difficulty of challenges such as achieving 150 headshot kills from over 200 meters.

DICE are aware of this and are finally going to speed up progression, increasing the match completion and daily bonuses, speeding up weapon progression, and lowering the level requirement for assignments.

They’re also “aware of the frustrations regarding the challenges themselves and are actively working on reviewing them, but it will take more time to develop, test, and implement these changes.”
