Battlefield 6 fans are already worried about the lack of recoil seen on some weapons, with many concerned that the guns will be too easy to use and comparing it to Call of Duty.
Although the community is still waiting to get its hands on Battlefield 6, the latest entry in DICE’s FPS series is ticking all the right boxes. The signature sprawling maps and destruction have received plenty of praise, and the devs have already committed to “grounded” skins instead of colorful crossovers.
But any first-person shooter lives or dies based on its gunplay, and that’s one area that’s already causing a little concern among players.
Battlefield 6 players want more recoil on weapons
The discussion kicked off when CoD legend Scump showed off the KTS100 MK87 LMG in the first range during a BF6 preview event. Even without touching the controller, it barely moved during many seconds of sustained fire, landing every shot on target with minimal effort.
This clip has made some players worried that BF6 is reducing the skill gap in an effort to make it more accessible, something Call of Duty has been accused of many times over the years.
“We need to push them to add more recoil. I don’t want another COD-style shooter with laserguns,” said one player on Reddit. “I also want BF 6 to be really good, but this bothers me. I hope they can adjust this.”
“They did so much right from the graphics to the animations and even the sounds are great, but that recoil makes them feel like toy guns,” added another.
However, others weren’t as convinced that this is an issue. As many pointed out, the gun used in the video is based on the real-life Ultimax, an LMG that is well known for its accuracy. Plus, other videos have emerged of players testing out different weapons, which have significantly more recoil to deal with.
That being said, there are those who argue that recoil is still virtually non-existent when you equip attachments, making it easy to beam enemies from incredible distances.
“Except nobody is gonna play these guns without attachments,” said one reply. “And the attachments turn them into laser guns.”
