Battlefield 6 has quickly become the biggest Battlefield game ever on Steam, and it’s not officially out until October.
Forget anything else, Battlefield 6 has well and truly taken over the gaming scene. Its gameplay and teaser trailers have fans convinced the franchise is back, and over half a million have begun making preparations for its release date.
However, there’s no need to wait until October, because, as of August 7-10, it’s currently got an Open Beta, and it’s clear this game is about to be huge, as it’s already broken records without it even officially releasing.
Battlefield smashes player records despite being in early access
Just one day into the early access of the free Open Beta, which you can only get into if you have a code given through Twitch Drops, Battlefield 6 has become the biggest Battlefield game ever on Steam, beating every other title by a considerable margin.
For clarity, at the time of writing and according to Steam Charts, Battlefield 6 has an all-time peak player count of just over 300,000 players. The second-highest player count in the franchise is owed to Battlefield 2042, which had an all-time peak of 107,000 players.
As such, before it’s even out or officially accessible to everyone, Battlefield 6 has already achieved three times the amount of Battlefield 2042.
The player count for the game as a whole, including console, hasn’t been revealed, but given the popularity on Twitch and Steam, it’s pretty safe to say it’s likely beaten any of its predecessors on console, too.
We expect this number to rise as more players get access to the Open Beta over the weekend, when early access has ended.
