DICE have shown off the content coming in Battlefield 6 Season 1, but players have been left furious by an “awful” skin that they feel breaks devs’ promise of grounded cosmetics.

One of the hottest topics going into Battlefield 6 was the skins, as many fans had grown tired of the colorful crossovers seen in games like Call of Duty. To that end, the DICE assured fans their shooter would be keeping its boots on the ground.

There was a bit of controversy around a specific green skin before launch, which some players felt was already too far, but for the most part, the day one lineup was well-received.

However, after revealing the new skins coming in Season 1, players are now worried that the game’s gritty vibe is already being ruined.

BF6 Season 1 skin sends community into meltdown

The skin that’s causing the stir is the Wicked Grin outfit for the Assault class, which comes with splashes of bright blue and a cartoon mouth over the character’s face. While it’s a far cry from what you’d see in CoD or Fortnite, fans are worried about the direction BF6 is heading.

“So, weren’t we supposed to have realistic skins for some time?” asked ‘Ohforfk’ on Reddit. “Something that someone would really wear during a war? Yet it seems that with the start of season 1, everything will turn to a colorful mess.”

“People were sold on a vision of a game, which looked like a real battlefield, with soldiers – not a bunch of randos just like in 2042, yet it was all a lie, and it will only get worse down the road.”

They were far from alone, as the post received thousands of replies from frustrated players.

“Man, that looks f***ing dumb,” said one reply, while another added: “I’m gonna miss the days when everyone had default and beta skins, I’m afraid this game won’t be recognizable in the future.”

“Lmao, this is not grounded and horrible looking. Doesn’t even look cool. What a mess,” wrote a third.

Some even claimed that they would deliberately avoid anyone wearing the skin, even if they have the opportunity to revive them:

“As a medic main, I will never revive you if you’re running a skin like this s**t.”
