Battlefield 6‘s first season has finally dropped, alongside the highly anticipated free-to-play battle royale, Redsec. However, while some fans are adoring the new maps, weapons, and game, others aren’t pleased about the new battle pass.
Most FPS games like Battlefield feature a battle pass, allowing you to grab some new skins for your operator, vehicles, or weapons, or it offers some of the game’s premium currency for you to purchase the next battle pass without spending any real cash.
Well, Battlefield 6 is no different, and as it welcomed in the first season, a new battle pass arrived, and some players aren’t happy with it.
Battlefield 6 players call out price and contents of new battle pass
Shortly after the battle pass dropped, players quickly began taking to social media to air their frustrations regarding the cost, its features, and how you progress.
“With the drop of the battle pass and battle royale in season 1, among other things, I feel absolutely cheated out of my money,” wrote one player, who explained that their primary frustration is that they “refuse to grind through a mediocre BR” to “unlock the new skins, guns, or attachments.”
They concluded by saying “Battlefield itself lost its identity,” blaming the new battle pass and its requirements to play Redsec in order to progress faster.
Some fans commented that “you can complete the whole pass without doing a single BR game/challenges, also any weekly challenges that are BR can be rerolled for new challenges.” So you’re not forced to play the battle royale in order to progress, but it will speed it up.
Others jumped on the price. The pro version of the battle pass costs $25 and comes with progression boosts, tier skips, server hosting, and more. However, fans think “$25 for a Battlepass ‘pro’ is an absurd price in an already 70€ game” and feel that “There is nothing consumer friendly about a paid battle pass in a game you already paid full price for.”
“This is the standard for battle passes now. The 10-dollar pass still unlocks everything; it just gives you a head start with the other one,” commented one player, who insists that it’s not necessary to purchase the more expensive version, as you can still get the rewards out of the cheaper tier.
Nevertheless, it seems the battle pass is proving a pretty contentious topic among the Battlefield 6 community right now, despite the love for Redsec.
