Battlefield 6 is on a tear. Pre-orders on Steam just soared past 800,000, putting it on track for the franchise’s biggest debut ever.
The open beta already turned heads. Battlefield 6 pulled in over 521,000 concurrent Steam players, breaking records set by Call of Duty on the platform. Across all platforms, millions joined during the first weekend. Twitch viewership peaked at 856,000, while server queues topped 100,000.
Players praised the gunplay, destructible environments, and the return of the class system, hailing it as a true return to form after Battlefield 2042’s rough reception. Technical issues, clunky UI, and complaints about Rush mode and small maps didn’t kill the hype. EA even added a beta stats tracker, sparking plenty of community chatter and competition.
Pre-orders point to historic success for Battlefield 6
Speaking to Eurogamer, Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott revealed pre-orders have now reached 800,000 on Steam, generating $40 million in revenue. That’s well above prior Battlefield entries and other shooters.
Elliott believes the game could top one million pre-sales before launch if EA keeps its marketing momentum. “Right now it’s on track to do extremely well: the best Battlefield has ever done,” he said.
While some reports hinted at a 100 million lifetime player target, Elliott called that “completely unrealistic” for a paid game, even with a free battle royale mode. He also dismissed talk of Battlefield 6 overtaking Call of Duty this year, citing CoD’s massive casual audience and entrenched brand power.
Elliott credited EA’s decision to hold the $70 price point as a smart move, avoiding the sticker shock of an $80 base price. He noted that Ultimate and Collector’s Editions still pull in extra revenue from dedicated fans.
