The “Wicked Grin” soldier skin in Battlefield 6 didn’t last for long before developers quietly pulled its original design from the game.

When Season 1 of Battlefield 6 launched, players expected a battle pass filled with grounded cosmetics, a promise the studio had emphasized for months. The team said it wanted to avoid flashy, out-of-place skins like those seen in Call of Duty.

Fans were told to expect realism, class identity, and a return to Battlefield’s military roots. The first Battle Pass partly delivered, since layers got new maps, a smoother progression system, and improved weapon handling.

But then came the Wicked Grin skin, a bright blue armor set with a grinning skull mask, and the story began to shift.

The reaction on Reddit was immediate. Players accused the developers of breaking their word on authenticity, calling the skin a “paintball” reject and “another 2042 moment.”

One post joked that Battlefield’s “grounded skins era” had lasted just 18 days. Others said the bright colors made it harder to tell friend from foe, breaking immersion in what was meant to be a realistic shooter.

Battlefield Studios removed the Wicked Grin cosmetic without public comment, reverting the class to a more grounded, standard military look. It was a premium skin, but it reworking it matched the studio’s focus on rebuilding player trust.

Since launch, Battlefield 6 has implemented player-driven updates, including faster XP gains, recoil tuning, fairer TTK values, and movement tweaks to keep combat balanced.
