Battlefield 6 Season 2 kicks off on February 17, and it brings new maps, weapons, and modes, including one that hasn’t been seen since Battlefield 1.
The ‘Operation Augur’ limited-time mode, which arrives later in Season 2, is inspired by the Operations mode from Battlefield 1. Here, players will fight across Season 2’s new maps, Contaminated and Hagental Base, with the attackers looking to push through and win both maps.
The first stage on Contaminated will feature large-scale warfare with tanks and helicopters, while Hagental Base will focus on close-quarters infantry combat.
Last seen in Battlefield 1 back in 2016, Operations sees players play Breakthrough on several narratively linked maps. If the attackers won, they would move on to the next map. The mode would end if the attackers either won every map or the defenders stopped them.
It immediately became a fan-favorite, often regarded as one of the franchise’s best modes thanks to its blend of Rush and Conquest, narrative storytelling, and multi-map format that made it a unique experience every time.
Battlefield V brought Grand Operations, a mode inspired by BF1’s version, but it took place over different days, with each day featuring a different game mode. Then, the mode was entirely missing from Battlefield 2042 – although Breakthrough was available.
The LTM will arrive in the game as part of Season 2’s third update on April 14, which will also bring Portal updates, the LTV vehicle, and the machete melee weapon. Whether it becomes a full-fledged mode remains to be seen.
In the meantime, you can check out the full Battlefield 6 Season 2 roadmap, detailing all of the new weapons, modes, and vehicles coming to DICE’s shooter over the next three months.
