Battlefield 6 players have expressed their “disappointment” after a new bundle was released that appears to have been created using AI.

AI is one of the hottest topics in gaming right now, as players and developers alike continue to disagree on where the line is when using the technology to create certain assets. Hideo Kojima has previously said the AI shouldn’t be used to make art, while Claire Obscur: Expedition 33 recently had its Indie Game of the Year awards recinded due to AI-generated assets.

Call of Duty, in particular, has been scrutinized for its use of the software in recent years, especially when it comes to bundles that players can only unlock by spending real money.

Now, rival shooter Battlefield 6 is under fire, after a paid bundle was added to the store that appears to use AI artwork.

BF6 players slam AI-generated “garbage”

The item in question comes as part of the Windchill bundle, specifically a Player Card Sticker that shows a soldier aiming an Assault Rifle. If you look closely, the M4A1 being used has two barrels and two dust covers, leading fans to believe it was made using AI.

“Two barrels on the M4A1, sure. I would literally prefer to have no sticker than some low quality AI generated garbage,” said ‘Willcario’ on Reddit. You can look at BO7 and see how many favors AI generated rewards won with them.”

Plenty of players were on the same page in the replies.

“I agree we don’t need more garbage in the game,” said one, while another added: “I am so sick of this s**t. If we are paying beyond full price for these games, I want beyond the f***ing effort. Instead, we get this half assed BS.

Meanwhile, others were less concerned by the use of AI, but were confused as to how a cosmetic with such a glaring mistake wasn’t caught before release.

“How the hell does this pass all checks, man. This has been greenlighted by multiple people,” wrote one player.

“I really don’t get how this happens. They can’t get literally one guy to spend a couple seconds looking at these to make sure they’re not glaringly awful?” said another.

It’s worth keeping in mind that the Battlefield 6 devs are yet to officially confirm whether or not AI was used to make this sticker, although it does look that way from its appearance.
