Beast Games Season 2 winner Tyler Lucas, aka Player 167, has opened up about his experience on the show, what it was like behind-the-scenes with MrBeast, and why he hasn’t even touched his $5.1 million prize pot just yet.
The finale of MrBeast’s competition series landed on Prime Video on Wednesday (February 25), seeing six remaining players take part in a series of challenges in the hopes of winning the life-changing cash prize.
But only one could be the winner, and that went to Tyler following his final showdown with runner-up Player 191, Cory Sims. Sadly, Cory only went home with $17,133, the lowest amount discounting the $1000 participation prize for each contestant.
It’s a different story for Tyler, who took home one of the largest jackpots in reality TV history. Even though the show was filmed between June and August 2025, Tyler told Dexerto that he still hasn’t touched it.
Beast Games Season 2 winner Tyler Lucas on why he hasn’t touched $5.1 million prize
Dexerto asked Tyler what the first thing he bought with his winnings was, to which he replied, “Actually, I have not bought anything with the money yet.” The reason? He’s planning how to invest it and set up a future for his children.
As was revealed in Beast Games Season 2 Episode 7, Tyler has a wife and two young children. It’s also worth noting that in the US, winnings from a TV show or competition don’t count as a gift and are therefore taxed.
Season 1 winner Jeff Randall Allen technically won $10 million, but after taxes this figure was just over $5 million. Similarly, Tyler’s jackpot will be taxed an estimated $2 million.
Even so, that’s a huge sum leftover, and it’s something Tyler isn’t taking lightly. “ I’m just trying to come up with the best plan to move forward with investing my money,” he told us.
“And once I develop good strategies, then I’ll look to put those into effect and determine what my family and I need.” When those factors are all settled, Tyler said there will be “vacations and stuff like that later down the road.”
“I’m kind of playing it safe right now just to make the best decisions with the money,” he added. “I definitely want to make sure that I do what I can to set my kids up for life.”
Player 167 talks MrBeast behind-the-scenes & Season 3 potential
Elsewhere in the interview, Tyler was asked what it was like spending time with Jimmy Donaldson and whether there was a difference to his on-screen persona as MrBeast.
“He is as advertised – what you see is what you get. He’s a super down to earth, humble guy,” Tyler explained.
“What was really awesome about him is that he would take the time to talk to each contestant, just to make his rounds and make sure everyone was doing okay.
“And it was very awesome of him because it shows that he cares so much about what he’s doing and what he’s producing. He would always ask about feedback and what we liked and didn’t like.
“So just to see him just show genuine care about the contestants and what he’s producing, it shows that he’s just such a humble, great guy and I’m extremely glad to have gotten to meet him on a personal level.”
It’s for this reason Tyler wouldn’t say no if the opportunity to return to Beast City would arise. To refresh your memory, previous winner Jeff reentered Beast Games in Season 2 alongside nine other competitors from Season 1.
Jeff helped other players out before choosing to self-eliminate during the cubes challenge, and this is something Tyler would be down for in Beast Games Season 3.
“I’m forever indebted to the Beast team. If they need me to do anything, I’ll do anything for them,” he told us.
“It would just be an awesome opportunity to go back for Season 3, see what that season is about, and then hopefully just pay it forward like Jeff did with me and try to help someone else win the show.
“If that opportunity presents itself, I’ll definitely jump on it. If not, no worries. I’m still thankful for my experience and I owe the world and then some to the Beast team.”
