Beast Games Season 2’s Monika reveals players’ major mistake after $500k coin bribe

After Beast Games Season 2 Episode 9, viewers are asking one question: why didn’t anyone ask Player 152, Monika, to show the gold coin? Ahead of the finale, Monika herself has pointed out this confusing oversight.

Just like Season 1, the second chapter of the Prime Video competition series introduced the infamous double-or-nothing gold coin. Although returning player JC initially bagged it, he gave it to Monika during the cube challenge.

MrBeast had been trying to bribe her into giving it back – after all, if she flipped it during the finale and guessed right, the prize fund would double to $10 million. But it wasn’t until Season 2 Episode 8 that he was successful, buying the coin from Monika for $500,000.

Although Player 173, Auguste, figured out this was the case, no one ever directly confronted her or asked her to prove she still had the coin. And according to Monika, that hesitation was surprising given how suspicious everyone already was.

Monika & Auguste address gold coin mistake after $500k bribe twist

In a recent interview on Auguste’s YouTube channel, Monika reflected on the chaos surrounding the gold coin bribe and admitted she was surprised no one simply asked to see it.

This becomes even more glaring due to what Auguste said on the podcast: the remaining players were already suspicious of Monika back in Beast City – before they even moved on to the penultimate challenge.

“At the end of the day, I just wanted to keep that [the bribe] under wraps as much as possible, but the suspicion was pretty immediate,” Monika explained.

Auguste then stated, “The big thing – Nick really led this – but people were kind of suspicious. Nick was bringing up, like, ‘Hey, how come she’s not getting bribed?’

“And so we’re getting these pieces of this puzzle where we don’t know 100%, but there were just things that he pieced together and some of the other guys were involved… it kind of came together.”

Auguste then asked if Monika was aware that they knew by the time they reached the phone challenge, to which she replied, “Yeah, honestly, I had a feeling that you guys knew while we were on the plane flying to Saudi Arabia.”

But here’s the part that shocked her: “Not one time between the money split and the phone game did anybody ask, ‘Yo, Monika, can I see the coin?’”

She went on to admit that she would have probably tried to deceive them if they had and said it was packed away in her luggage. But even so, the fact that no one demanded proof despite their suspicions is surprising given the high stakes at that point in the competition.

Beast Games Season 2 Episode 9 reignites coin debate

This was raised following the release of Beast Games Season 2 Episode 9, with one viewer writing on Reddit, “Why did no one ask to see the coin?

“That would have been the first thing I would have asked to do if I had a suspicion she sold it. She still has the coin purse, she always had it with her. Just seems simple.”

Another said they’re “mad Auguste didn’t say anything to anyone else other than Kady about it,” but one fan pointed to his YouTube video comments.

“He said Nick pieced it together, so Jack and Tyler almost definitely knew too. So the only remaining people are Brett, Corey, Hannah,” they wrote.

“He could’ve talked to them off screen. Considering they didn’t show Nick and Auguste talking about it, who knows what else they cut.

“But also, I wouldn’t be surprised if he was more hesitant to talk to Kady (who he did tell) and Hannah about it because they are close to Monika and they may not believe him.”

A fourth agreed with the original post, stating, “I thought the same thing. If I were Auguste I would have wanted proof.”

“The moment they were all reunited in the center – in the final round – was the perfect opportunity to ask her to show the coin to confirm if she still had it or not,” added another.

“No one thought of that. And supposedly Nick was the one who ‘figured out’ Monika sold the coin… He never seemed to care.”

You never know – maybe this will play a part in Nick’s decision that was set up at the end of Season 2 Episode 9. Right now, he has the deciding vote on the last player to join the six finalists, and the frontrunners are both Monika and Brett.
