The Beast Games Season 2 finale has arrived, seeing six contestants whittled down to just one winner of the $5 million prize. But after the events of the latest installment, viewers have one player on their mind: 191, aka Cory Sims.
Season 2 Episode 10 landed on Prime Video today (February 25), kicking off by confirming the finalists. Alongside Cory, they include Player 167 (Tyler), Player 99 (Hannah), Player 58 (Jack), Player 172 (Auguste), and Player 195 (Brett).
MrBeast led them through a series of games, ranging from kicking balls to try and smash each other’s hearts to memorizing a tower of 16 different colored blocks, all in the bid of making it through to the final.
While the last episode delivered tension, twists, and a life-changing payday, a growing number of fans are now calling for “justice” for Cory. Warning: spoilers ahead!
Player 191 Cory leaves with lowest finalist prize
Ultimately, Tyler won Beast Games Season 2, with Cory coming runner up. But due to how little he took during the ‘Buried Alive’ challenge, he only went home with $17,133 – and fans think he deserves better.
Now, $17,133 is not to be sniffed at, but given how many competitors won a significantly higher figure and Cory made it to the last two, the disparity hasn’t gone unnoticed.
For context, Tyler won $5,100,000 in total, while multiple contestants won huge sums along the way. Check it out:
- Player 148 (Ian) – $1,800,000
- Player 195 (Brett) – $1,193,000
- Player 126 (JT) – $1,000,000
- Player 152 (Monika) – $510,000
- Player 118 (Nick) – $342,264
- Player 38 (Kady) – $160,057
- Player 173 (Jim) – $137,547
- Player 21 (Ethan) – $50,000
- Player 58 (Jack) – $40,000
Plus, early on in Season 2, 10 players bagged themselves $100,000 each by swapping their spots with 10 contestants from Season 1, including the OG winner Jeffrey Randall Allen.
Since MrBeast awarded every contestant $1,000 simply for participating, Cory isn’t technically the lowest earner of the season – but excluding that baseline payment, he walks away with the smallest total of any finalist.
Another factor fans have noticed is his grace and integrity. Despite losing out to Tyler, Cory doesn’t show any animosity towards him or the situation. He gives Tyler a big hug and says, “I’m glad you did, brother. Honestly, and I mean that. I love you man.”
When Tyler offers condolences, Cory replies, “No, you be happy. You enjoy this moment, ‘cause this moment is all about you right now. Live in this moment right here. Don’t feel bad for me.”
“If anybody’s gonna win it, I’m glad you did buddy,” he adds. While talking with MrBeast, he says he has no regrets, saying he’d always question it if he didn’t try to go for the $5 million. “This was one of the best experiences of my life,” Cory says.
Beast Games Season 2 viewers want “justice”
Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote, “The most deserving 2nd place winner. Cory played the game with nothing but integrity, and even having such a small amount of money to walk away with, he wholeheartedly congratulated Tyler and told him to live in his moment.
“He may have not won the money, but he truly personified a legend and a role model for his kids. What a champ.”
“That was the classiest standoff between two people I have ever seen,” another agreed, while a third added, “Genuinely god bless his soul he deserved a whole lot more.”
Others are less happy with the outcome, suggesting Cory should have left with more. “I was hoping he got 3rd place not 2nd so he could leave with something,” wrote one.
Another said, “He should’ve gotten a 2nd winner prize,” and a third commented, “I wish he would have some money. I wish he took the bribe instead of Brett.”
One person suggested $100,000 should be given to the finalist as there’s “no incentive” to go to the final when it comes to the last bribe. You see, the three finalists are given an opportunity to take a bribe and self eliminate.
Brett ultimately bags it, taking home $1 million. If they introduced an $100,000 incentive, the viewer argues that it would make for “riskier plays in the final knowing at least some money is in the bag.”
“Yeah we need justice for Cory,” said another, with a third suggesting, “If I were Tyler I would have shared some of the money.”
But others have said it’s simply the nature of the game. “Poor guy is really walking away with only 17K, he deserves a lot more but a game’s a game,” said one.
On the positive side, Cory has earned a legion of fans. That includes more than 32,000 followers on Instagram, where he shares regular updates on his faith and with his family.
