Longswords are a great and well-balanced weapon type in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but you’ll need the best build if you want to beat the hardest bosses.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers features five unique weapon types, all with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. The beauty of the combat system is that any and all of them are viable, but that does make it tricky to know which one to use.
If you want balance, you can’t beat Longswords, as they’re fast and nimble to use but also offer more range than One-Handed Sworded. So, here are the best skills and Disciplines to use with them to make the perfect build.
Best Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Longsword for the early game
Lashing Whip is the perfect option to start your playthrough with. Not only does it deal plenty of slash damage, which can be improved by upgrading your mastery, but it also comes with Whip Dance.
This Weapon Skill sees Wuchang spin around in a circle and flail the sword to deal big damage, which is ideal for dealing with multiple enemies at once. It also helps against bulkier bosses who can’t dodge out of radius easily.
As you head deeper into the land of Shu, you’ll come across Longswords with more complex skills to master that have a higher ceiling. That being said, with the right combination of skills and upgrades, Lashing Whip can carry you all through to the end if you like how it plays.
Best skills
- Sword Saint
- Sword Savant
- Sword Master
- Windforce
The combat system in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is all about building Skyborn Might before spending it to use your most powerful abilities and spells. So, to get the most out of Longswords, it’s best to use the Impetus Repository to lean into the skills that help you accumulate the valuable resource.
With this in mind, Sword Saint, Savant, and Master are essential, as when combined, you’ll be earning it for every second, third, and fifth hit of a light combo. This means you’ll always have access to your best tools, such as five-might spells that deal big damage.
It’s available early, but Windforce is also an incredibly strong pick that’s useful throughout the game. With this active, you can unleash a quick heavy attack which, when done from behind an enemy, opens them up to an Obliterate Attack.
Best Discipline
Although you could go with Sword Counter to block and parry, Crescent Arc is the best all-round Discipline to run on Longswords, because it offers great defensive and attacking options.
With the right timing, Wuchang jumps back to quickly avoid an enemy’s attack, which also offers an extra Skybound Might charge. Then, with Variant 1, you can follow it up with a huge attack that deals plenty of damage and closes the space.
Like most skills in this game, it’s all about timing and making sure you use it to counter the right attacks, but once you master it and can identify the right window to use it, it’s tough to beat.
Best Benedictions
- Bu — Skyborn Ward
- Sheng — Backstab Rejuvenation
- Wei — Skyborn Magic
Benedictions can elevate a build to the next level, and it’s best to start with the Skyborn Ward in the Oath slot. This reduces the damage you take whenever you have Skybound Might, which pairs nicely with the skills we picked.
Then, Backstab Rejuvenation is a very important pick, as it offers you extra health when you attack from behind, something you should be doing as often as possible. Finally, Skyborn Magic provides a spell damage buff, making some of the most powerful moves in the game even stronger.
