One-Handed Swords can be tricky to use in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, but with the right build, they can be some of the most powerful weapons in the entire game.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offers plenty of freedom when building your character, allowing you to tackle its brutally difficult bosses in any way you see fit. The most important choice you’ll make is which Weapon Type to use, as it directly impacts which skills you can call upon and how you approach each fight.
While Longswords and Axes are pretty easy to grasp, One-Handed Swords are a little more challenging to master thanks to their low damage but incredible magic buffs. So, if you want to embrace your more magical side, here’s the best build to run.
Best early One-Handed Sword in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
The best One-Handed Sword to run early on in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is the Astral Blade, which just edges out Darkfrost Edge for a number of reasons.
First of all, while the latter does have slightly better attack damage when it comes to Slash and Stab, the Astral Blade is far superior in terms of spell damage, which is the key factor for this Weapon type. So, if you want to build around casting spells, this is the weapon for you.
It also features the Awakening Seal Weapon Skill, which both increases spell damage even further for a brief time and increases the rate at which you earn Skybound Might, allowing you to cast them more often.
There are some more powerful options later on in the game, but as long as you keep investing in the right skills and level up your mastery, then this blade can carry you all the way to the end.
Best skills & Discipline for One-Handed Swords
- Biding Time
- Windforce
- Vanguard Breaker
Spells can only be cast using Skybound Might, so the key to this build is Biding Time. On top of the charge earned for a perfect dodge, this provides extra charges every so many seconds and even speeds up when you perform attacks, ensuring you always have access to your most powerful abilities.
Given the relatively low physical stats on One-Handed Swords, you’ll need more ways to inflict big damage, which is where Windforce comes in. This allows you to spend a Skybound Might charge to unleash a quick heavy attack, which, when done from behind, opens enemies up for an Obliterate attack.
Not only does this make it much easier to quickly take out grunt enemies, but it’s also crucial for many bosses, as it gives you a much-needed breather while they’re stunned.
When it comes to the Discipline, Vanguard Breaker is easily the best option, allowing Wuchang to lunge forward to unleash a powerful blow. It also has the Poise Break ability, which means it can smash through even when an enemy is blocking, which can prove incredibly useful against humanoid bosses who wield weapons.
Best Benedictions
- Wei — Vitality Factory
- Sheng — Backstab Rejuvenation
- Wei — Skyborn Magic
You’ll need Benedictions to take your build to the next level, and we recommend starting with Vitality Factory in the Oath slot. This gives you extra damage while at full health, ideal for clearing enemies quickly between bosses.
Then, Backstab Rejuvenation gives you a little extra health when attacking from behind, which you’ll be doing often thanks to Windforce.
Last but certainly not least is Skyborn Magic. This offers extra spell damage whenever you have Skybound might, which pairs beautifully with the skills we selected and doubles down on the One-Handed Swords’ main strength.
