It can be tough to find your footing in Rematch, but you can make the learning curve easier by running the best settings for gameplay, audio, and the control layout.

Rematch brings the best of Rocket League but without the cars, resulting in a fast and frantic football game that’s as chaotic as it is addictive. You play as just one member of a three, four, or five-person team, with just six minutes to rack up as many goals as possible.

Matches can be decided by the smallest of mistakes, so it’s important you’re always at your best. This will take mastery of the many different controls and skills, but you can give yourself the edge by making sure your settings are up to scratch.

Here are the best Rematch settings to give you the upper hand.

Best gameplay settings

Server

Camera

HUD

Many of Rematch’s settings work fairly well on the default options, but you’ll want to adjust the camera speeds across the board for high-level play. This allows you to scan the pitch quickly both with and without the ball, giving you more chances of reacting and making the right pass or tackle.

We also recommend increasing the FOV to at least 80, giving you a better view of the whole field at all times. This is especially useful for defending, as you’re likely to spot attackers making runs behind you.

Lastly, you’ll need to disable Camera Shake altogether, as this can be distracting, especially in more frantic moments.

Best video settings

There aren’t too many video settings to choose from, but it’s advised to turn Motion Blur to zero. While it’s great for immersion and conveying the speed you’re moving at, it’s important to have a clear picture when lining up a pass or shot

Best audio settings

Volumes

Communication

Language

Audio is arguably the most vital part of Rematch, as there are plenty of little musical cues that can be used to your advantage. With this in mind, turn off everything that isn’t absolutely crucial to the game, such as Gameplay Music Volume.

This makes it much easier to hear the many sound effects, such as the ping when you can control, clear, or shoot the ball in the air, or the calls of teammates in acres of space. Without the interruption of the music, we found the default settings of 70 to be loud enough, but you can adjust these to suit your preferences.

With this in mind, we’ve also turned the Crowd Volume down to 20. You could turn it off completely if you want to focus on pure gameplay, but hearing the roar of the crowd after a goal is incredibly satisfying, and matches feel a little eerie and lifeless without it.

Best control mapping in Rematch

Full control mapping isn’t available at launch, but an in-game message has confirmed it will be available “soon.” So, until then, it’s best to stick to the defaults.

As mentioned earlier, vibration is actually pretty useful in Rematch, so keep that cranked up to maximum so you never miss anything.

The standard control layout takes some time to adapt to, but it soon feels quite intuitive. You could swap to the ‘Cam Lock Preset,’ which adds a camera lock feature similar to Rocket League where you always follow the ball, but this is more of a hindrance as you have to watch the positions of both teammates and opponents.
