Revenant is Elden Ring Nightreign’s spectral summoner and your pick for methodical, magic-heavy support. But don’t get it twisted: this haunted doll isn’t just for healing and hiding.

She thrives in long fights where she can control the pace, summon allies, and chip away with Dragon Incantations or high-scaling Sorceries. With clever positioning and smart summon timing, she becomes a battlefield puppeteer, pulling every string from behind her ghostly wall of allies.

The challenge? Revenant’s defenses are paper-thin, and her best tools take time to cast. She’s not built for close-quarters brawling and can get shredded if you mistime a summon or mismanage your FP. Still, for players who like commanding spirits, casting from the shadows, and turning enemy corpses into allies, Revenant is a terrifyingly cool pick.

How to play Revenant

To play Revenant, you’ll first need to unlock her by defeating the first Expedition and returning the Pocket watch to its rightful owner.

Revenant is all about Faith and Arcane. Faith powers her Dragon Communion Incantations and support spells, while Arcane boosts status effects and enhances her passive ability, Necromancy.

Her FP pool is massive, which is great because she needs it. Most of her gameplay revolves around casting powerful spells and maintaining her spirit summons. Melee isn’t off the table, but it’s a last resort. She starts with Claws, but you’re better off swapping one for a Sacred Seal and the other for a Greatshield or bow.

She fights from the backline. That means summoning spirits to keep enemies distracted, then casting things like Rotten Breath or Elden Stars while they’re focused on your allies. Revenant’s signature move is Summon Spirit, which lets her choose between three spectral companions. Each has a different playstyle, but they all work best as meat shields or distractions.

When things go bad, or when you want to turn a fight, around pop Immortal March. It revives near-death allies, makes you and your summon immortal for a bit (as in: can’t die, but can still take damage), and triggers your spirit’s ultimate move. It’s your panic button, your power play, and your best support tool all rolled into one.

Revenant shines in long fights, especially against tough mobs or Nightlords. She’s slow to start, but hard to stop once she’s rolling. Don’t try to play her like a frontline caster; she’s a tactician, not a tank.

Revenant abilities & attributes

Abilities

Passive: Necromancy

Killing an enemy has a chance to raise their ghost to fight for you. These phantoms are temporary, but they’ll target whatever you attack. They vanish after a minute and can’t be healed or revived, but you can stack multiple at once. Great for overwhelming enemies or creating space to cast.

Character Skill: Summon Spirit

Play a haunted lyre to call one of three ghostly companions:

  • Helen: A fast, evasive attacker with a rapier combo.
  • Frederick: A tanky bruiser with hammer swings.
  • Sebastian: A ranged caster who fires ghostflame bolts.

Choose who to summon based on the fight, but be careful, summoning takes a moment and leaves you vulnerable.

Ultimate Art: Immortal March

Triggers a ghostly transformation that:

  • Makes you and your active spirit immortal (survive any hit at 1 HP).
  • Revives fallen teammates within range.
    Activates your spirit’s ultimate move.

Best used to survive boss nukes or revive allies in co-op. Just don’t let it wear off while you’re surrounded.

Attributes

Best Relic effects for Revenant

Your priorities are to boost FP, Faith, and Arcane. These fuel your spells, keep your summons active, and enhance Necromancy.

Pick relics that improve casting speed or increase duration of summoned allies. Ones that heal you or nearby allies over time are great too. Revenant doesn’t have natural sustain, and every second counts.

Forget melee buffs, she’s not a brawler. Go for spell boosts, status effect enhancement, or relics that buff you after summoning spirits or reviving allies.

Early Game

  • Increased Faith and Arcane
  • Boost to Dragon Incantation damage
  • FP regen or max FP boost

Late Game

  • Necromancy-enhancing relics (summoned ghosts deal more damage or last longer)
  • Reduced Spirit cooldowns
  • Revived allies gain temporary damage immunity

Best weapons

Revenant is at her best with a Sacred Seal in one hand and a Greatshield in the other. Claws are decent for early-game but fall off hard.
