In addition to the rumored Fallout 3 remaster, Bethesda is reportedly working on “multiple” projects set in the post-apocalyptic franchise.

Officially, the only upcoming title Bethesda is known to be working on is a new instalment in the Elder Scrolls series.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that Fallout fans are going be be left wanting, however. Back in 2023, leaked documents from Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax, outed the existence of Oblivion Remastered.

Despite scepticism, that project ultimately proved to be real. Released in April 2025 as a collaboration between Bethesda and Virtuous Studios, Oblivion’s modernization went down a storm with fans.

It stands to reason, then, that Bethesda would want to mimic that success with Fallout and, as luck would have it, a Fallout 3 remaster was also mentioned in the leaked document.

“Multiple” Fallout projects in development

As part of a wider discussion about the July 2025 Xbox layoffs on the Friends Per Second podcast, VGC’s Jordan Middler said, “There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including that one you’re all wanting.”

Middler didn’t specifically mention any particular game, so it’s not clear whether he was referring to remasters of Fallout 3, New Vegas, or something else entirely. Whatever it is, Middler added, “It’s not far enough along to say anything that is like ‘you’re going to be playing this game anytime soon.'”

If Fallout 3’s remaster has already been in active development for some time, it could well be the case that New Vegas is next in line but yet to enter production. That would certainly fit Middler’s claim that the mystery project is still a long way off.
