Although Better Late Than Single didn’t lead to much love, it did give contestants the confidence they needed to date outside of the Netflix show – and one cast member has found a new relationship.

Much like Single’s Inferno, the series sees singletons living together in the hopes of finding love. There’s one big difference, though: the Better Late Than Single cast have never had a relationship.

After plenty of ups and downs, two couples were formed at the end of the dating show: Ha Jeong-mok and Park Ji-yeon, as well as Kang Ji-su and Kim Seung-li. However, after the finale, the producers teased that fan fave Noh Jae-yun has been dating.

Now, Jae-yun has appeared on Transit Love star Jeong Gyu-min’s YouTube channel alongside his fellow Better Late Than Single cast mates Ha Jeong-mok and Kang Hyun-kyu to share an exciting update.

Better Late Than Single star Noh Jae-yun on how he met new girlfriend

In the interview published on Wednesday, August 13, Jae-yun proudly says that while he was single for 27 years (aka his whole life), he is “now happily dating.” Shortly after, he confirms that he’s currently attending a private academy where he met his new girlfriend.

“When I started going to the academy there was a woman next to me. We went to the academy together, we did assignments together, and we talked on KakaoTalk,” he says. “I got a signal that she was open to me… It was that kind of feeling so I was able to go in confidently.”

When asked if he’d change anything before filming, Jae-yun replied, “I think everything that happened was something I needed to go through, so I wouldn’t change much,” although he did joke about his moment hiding in the grass, saying it was the perfect place to get some time alone – like a “toilet”.

Fans are impressed with his progression, having come out of his shell throughout the show to become the confident version of himself he is today.

“Funny how now Jae-yun’s the cheeky one, and Jeong-mok and Hyun-kyu have become the calm, mature ones,” wrote one, while another said, “Jae-yun, ever since you started dating you’ve gotten really good at talking.”

A third even said, “At this rate, Jaeyoon should come back in Season 2 as a ‘Some-Maker’ (the show’s dating coach).”

Ha Jeong-mok receives support after Netflix show backlash

Elsewhere in the interview, Jeong-mok opened up about the backlash he’s received after switching to Kang Ji-su, despite building a connection with Yi Do. Many felt he was leading her on, and Jeong-mok himself has apologized and admitted he made a mistake.

When asked what he’s been up to since Better Late Than Single dropped, Jeong-mok quipped, “I’ve just been hiding at home with the AC on, lying down all day. But school’s starting soon.”

He later added, “After the show aired, public opinion wasn’t great about me. But honestly, when I watched myself, I understood why. I regretted some of my behavior, but I learned from it.”

Gyu-min reassured him, having faced backlash from reality TV viewers in the past. “Don’t worry, I’ve had way worse hate and I’m doing fine now,” he explained.

It does appear opinion is starting to shift, as reflected by the comments. One wrote, “Jeong-mok, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have even watched – it would’ve been boring. The show blew up because of you, so hold your head high, okay?”

“Jeong-mok please don’t let it hurt you too much,” said another, while a third added, “People forget faster than you think – just treat your next partner well.”

Over on the Better Late Than Single subreddit, fans are relieved to see the tide turning. “I just finished watching, so happy seeing them in a different setting, all so handsome,” said one.

“Jeong-mok is still suffering from the online hate. I hope he heals with time. The comment section on the video is surprisingly supportive and kind and that was really cool.”

Another wrote, “Fun fact: the interviewer’s name is Gyu-min, he appeared in Transit Love 2 or Exchange 2 with his ex-girlfriend Hae-eun. He once became the most hated person on the internet because of how he treated his ex.

“He and Hae-eun were together for over nearly nine years. At that time people… made fun of his height… But as you can see now, he is doing quite well and will appear in a new dating show in Disney+ named 60 Minute Blind Date.”
