Listings for sealed copies of Cory in the House for Nintendo DS have skyrocketed in price, not long after the game climbed to second place on Metacritic.

If you head over to Metacritic’s Best Video Games by Score, you’ll see a peculiar title sitting in second place, just behind the award-sweeping Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

It’s surprisingly close to taking the top spot too, trailing the RPG by just 0.3 points. What started as a fun revival of a long-running meme, however, has now had a very real effect.

The 2008 game, Cory in the House on Nintendo DS, has seen resale prices shoot up on eBay, with sealed listings appearing around the $400 mark and an auction already climbing much higher.

Cory in the House DS game prices are skyrocketing

According to data from PriceCharting, a loose copy of Cory in the House is generally priced at around $8 in 2026, while a graded, new copy can go for as much as $26.95. For a Nintendo DS game of that age, that’s fairly ordinary.

That said, new listings on eBay show the game’s resale price reaching multiple times its usual value. Some sellers have listed sealed copies for around $400, while one auction listing is currently sitting at $721.00.

And if that’s not surprising enough, the latter even already has 34 bids at the time of writing.

You may be wondering. Why is Cory in the House, a game that many have probably never heard before, suddenly a big deal? It all circles back to an old internet meme.

As IGN noted, for more than a decade, 4chan users have helped drive periodic spikes in interest for the game across sites like GameFAQs and Amazon. The campaign also extended to Metacritic, where the game reached a 9.7 user rating in 2013.
