Black Myth: Wukong creators Game Science dropped a surprise six-minute video for Black Myth: Zhong Kui to mark the 2026 Chinese New Year, giving fans a new look at the next chapter in the Black Myth universe.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui is an upcoming single-player action RPG inspired by the legendary demon hunter Zhong Kui from Chinese folklore. The mysterious title was first shown off during Gamescom 2025, with a brief clip showcasing some demons and a man riding atop a tiger.

Since then, the devs have remained tight-lipped and have yet to reveal any gameplay, a release window, or additional platform details.

However, ahead of the Chinese New Year celebrations on February 17, Game Science has released a six-minute video to give fans their most in-depth look yet – even if it is rather odd.

Black Myth: Zhong Kui releases new video

Despite being labeled as non-canon and unrelated to the main storyline, the video offers an early glimpse at the project’s visuals and creature design.

Rather than showcasing combat, we’re treated to a surreal cooking sequence where a woman can be seen preparing a feast made entirely from monsters.

She carefully dices slabs of meat with blinking eyes, harvests herbs from a tiny demon baby, and chops apart a giant grasshopper while her equally unsettling companions assist in the kitchen.

Viewers familiar with the monster cuisine anime Delicious in Dungeon will be familiar with the chef’s apparent aptitude for transforming grizzly monster parts into what looks like a fairly appetizing meal (don’t judge me).

Toward the end of the clip, a hooded figure is led into a shadowy room and is served the monster ramen, before the hood is lifted and the video cuts to black.

Quite what Black Myth: Zhong Kui will entail is anyone’s guess, but the Chinese New Year video has us hungry for more, even if the monster hot pot it’s serving up does look questionable.
