Black Ops 6 gets new Zombies content in the Season 4 update, including a fan-favorite mode’s return, new challenges, LTMs, and more.

While all three of the main Call of Duty modes – multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone – share content like the Battle Pass and new weapons such as the FFAR 1 and LC10, Zombies gets its own content.

We’re breaking down everything you need to know about the update, from its start date and time to all the new content.

The Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 4 update goes live on Thursday, May 29, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET / 5 PM BST.

You should be able to preload the update, so keep an eye out for an update. Also, make sure you’ve finished the Season 3 Battle Pass, as you won’t be able to access it again.

Grief mode

The Grief mode, which hasn’t been seen since Black Ops 2, arrives in Season 4. Here, two teams of four must outlast each other, with the last team standing winning.

While you can’t damage the other team, you can slow them down by shooting them, body-block them, and give them major debuffs by capturing zones.

Grief takes place in smaller sections of the existing Zombies maps, and for the full breakdown, you can check out our dedicated guide.

New LTMs

Two new LTMs come with Zombies Season 4 Reloaded: Starting Room and Abomination Challenge.

Staring Room is simple but extremely difficult. You’re locked in the starting room of a Zombies map, and you simply have to survive as many rounds as you can. It’s inspired by the classic starting room challenges, and the devs said they’ve taken particular inspiration from BO3’s Moon.

Abomination Challenge is set in a “warped version of Liberty Falls,” where you have to hunt down an “ultra-powered-up Abomination.”

More Dark Ops Challenges arrive

More Dark Ops Challenges arrive in Zombies Season 4, offering new Calling Cards and tons of XP. We don’t know what they are yet, but they all but said that one of them will be part of the Grief mode.

Shatter Blast Ammo Mod and new Gobblegums

Shatter Blast

The Shatter Blast Ammo Mod returns with the Zombies Season 4 update, making bullets deal explosive damage with a chance of creating a bigger explosion that destroys armor.

Here are its Major and Minor Augments:

  • Major Augments
    • Big Game: The Ammo Mod can be used against Elite enemies.
    • Blast Chain: Each explosion is followed by three additional explosions in rapid succession.
    • Blast Repair: Receive armor for every enemy whose armor you destroy with Shatter Blast.
  • Minor Augments
    • Blast Zone: Explosions are bigger.
    • Blast Boost: Explosions deal more damage.
    • Blast Wave: Explosions knock down normal enemies.

Gobblegums

There are also three Gobblegums with the update: Explosive Flourish (Epic), Flavor Hex (Legendary), and Rainburps (Whimsical).

Explosive Flourish creates an explosion around you every time you reload, Flavor Hex will activate a random Ultra Gobblegum, and Rainburps make Zombies “belch sparkly rainbow bubbles” when you kill them.

Is there a new Zombies map?

There’s no new Zombies map in the Season 4 update, but we can still expect one more ahead of Call of Duty 2025.

Following Season 3’s Shattered Veil Easter egg, the next Zombies map is expected to be ‘Janus Towers.’ Shattered Veil ends with Richtofen leading the crew to Janus Towers, where the ether reactors are melting down. The map probably won’t be called Janus Towers, but it’s the most likely setting.
