Treyarch’s Matt Scronce has responded to fan complaints about an “annoying” issue in Black Ops 7 that is literally giving them headaches.

With the release of Black Ops 7 on the horizon, Call of Duty fans have had the chance to test out the multiplayer and Zombies modes during the beta phase.

There has been plenty of optimism from fans about what they’ve experienced in the beta, especially the Open Moshpit playlist, which doesn’t use skill-based matchmaking as big a factor as the game normally would.

However, despite plenty of praise for the beta, it hasn’t been without issue. The developers have already had to clamp down on cheaters in-game, adjust the Time to Kill, and there has been fierce criticism over the automatic doors on some maps too.

Black Ops 7 will adjust Nemesis sound

On top of that, Call of Duty fans have been annoyed by the noise sting that plays when you interact with your ‘Nemesis’ in-game.

If a player starts decisively winning the one-on-one battle for kills against you, the sound will play when they kill you next. It’s been called “annoying” by a number of players, prompting a response from Matt Scronce.

“That’s the Nemesis sound and we’re reducing the volume a bit on that one for launch,” the Design Director said on X (formerly Twitter).

Some fans suggested that a sliding scale in the sound options would do the job, so that they can at least keep it around, even if others want to get rid of it.

“Might be worth implementing a toggle option for the audio. Love that it’s back, helps me keep track of who I need to focus on,” one said, but added that the jingle is “repetitive” at times.

“I can see the skull and nemesis text on my screen, don’t need a guitar riff,” another added. “The nemesis guitar sound in Black Ops 7 single-handedly made me uninstall the beta,” another chimed in.
