Both Treyarch and Raven Software have confirmed that they’re looking at aim assist changes in Black Ops 7 and Warzone, in an effort to make fights as balanced as possible, no matter how you play.
Aim Assist is always a hot topic among the Call of Duty community. Those who play on a controller are given extra help to account for the accuracy lost while using a gamepad instead of a mouse and keyboard, so players will automatically aim towards enemies if they’re close enough.
However, some PC players have grown increasingly frustrated with how strong aim assist can be, arguing that it puts them at a disadvantage.
Ahead of the launch of Black Ops 7, Design Director Matt Scronce has revealed the disparity between the two and has confirmed they’ll be making adjustments.
Aim assist changes coming to Black Ops 7 and Warzone
“The data says that controller players are winning slightly more in close-range engagements, and then keyboard and mouse players are winning slightly more in those long-range engagements,” Scronce explained in a Dev Talk video.
“So what we’re going to do here, to try and close that gap, is take a close look at the strength of aim assist across all of those ranges.”
He went on to say that they’re also looking at rotational aim assist, and the need for your right stick to be moving in the direction of the target for aim assist for the feature to kick in. Although he didn’t give any specifics, he promised they would share more details in the coming weeks.
It’s not just Black Ops 7 multiplayer that will be receiving these changes; Raven Software has confirmed that they will also apply to Warzone. Responding to Treyarch’s video, the devs said:
“In parity with Black Ops 7 Multiplayer, we will be working with Treyarch to explore potential adjustments to rotational aim assist and aim assist strength on controller in Season 01 of Call of Duty: Warzone. We’ll share more news as we draw closer to the launch of Season 01 later this year!”
